    AN EXTREMELY FINE CONNECTICUT 18TH CENTURY "COUNTRY" QUEEN ANNE TILT TOP CANDLE STAND, Circa 1760-1780 WITH A ONE BOARD OVAL TOP, AN ELONGATED AND DELICATE VASE TURNED SHAFT AND THE BEST HAND CARVED CABRIOLE LEGS AND QUEEN ANNE PAD FEET ALL IN CHERRY WITH MUCH OF ITS ORIGINAL RED PAINTED SURFACE AND VARNISH STILL INTACT.
    CENTRAL CONNECTICUT, CIRCA 1760-1780.
    FRESH FROM AN OLD CONNECTICUT COLLECTION
    THIS IS A FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF A COUNTRY QUEEN ANNE CANDLESTAND made to look like the more formal examples from the city.
    THE HAND CARVED CABRIOLE LEGS ARE WELL EXECUTED FOR A COUNTRY PIECE AND THE PAD FEET ARE ALL INTACT.
    THE SURFACE IS THE ORIGINAL DARK RED PAINT WITH SOME OF ITS ORIGINAL VARNISH TOP COAT.
    IT IS WELL WORN AND GRUNGY WITH NICE PATINA AND SURFACE.
    All the components are original and complete.
    THE ORIGINAL BRASS LATCH AND KEEPER ARE FULLY INTACT.
    There are some minor repairs to the bottom of the shaft where the legs enter, there are a couple of 19th century nails and pegs from an old break out. Also, they put a later tin spider on the bottom of the shaft to help secure the dovetailed legs, (see photos).
    All very minor losses for a wonderful country stand in original red paint.
    The Top measures about 22" across and 13 1/2" deep with great shrinkage.
    It stands 25 1/2" tall and 36 1/2" when lifted up.
