This is a stated “First Edition.”
Hardbound in very good to near fine condition with dust jacket, 369 pages includes a picture section, measures approximately 5 ¾”; x 8 ¼”.
The jacket displays a design by Isadore Seltzer on white background with price intact on the fold-over flap.  There is light soil and age toning with a bit of edge chipping and a couple closed 1” tears but overall it is still quite whole and attractive.  It has been placed in an Archival Quality clear Mylar jacket cover and makes a striking presentation.
The boards are green with titles blind stamped on the spine.  There is a bit of handling soil on the rear board but they are otherwise, clean, straight with a very light bump to the lower front free corner, just slight edge wear, no worn through areas.
The interior is completely clean and firmly bound.  There is a previous owner name written in the upper free corner of the front paste down, little or no age toning or foxing and no marks, creases or tears.
TWO-THIRDS OF A COCONUT TREE is a well written book filled with entertaining tidbits and trivia about the noteworthy individuals and the local happenings of Tahiti during the earlier 20th century, the “Bohemian” era of discovery by artists and writers from both the United States and Europe; individuals such as Pierre Loti, Gauguin, Edgar Leeteg, Frederick O’Brien, Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall just to name a few.
A little history and just a bit of gossip makes TWO-THIRDS OF A COCONUT TREE a wonderful addition to a Pacific Island library, but don’t put it on the shelf until after you’ve read it
    P.S.
“There is a zoning law in Tahiti that restricts the height of all new buildings to “two-thirds of a coconut tree,” hence the title of this book.” – jacket excerpt,  Little Brown and Company
